Guided setup

Set up Plyloft opens over the app the first time you start it. Every step says what it will do, and Details shows the exact commands. You can Skip for now and come back from Settings › Account › Setup.

Setup also asks you to sign in with GitHub. That sign-in is your Plyloft account: identity only, with no access to your code or repositories, and it is how your plan reaches the app. No GitHub account? Create one, free, then continue.

  1. Welcome. Choose I’m new to this (one step per screen) or I use them regularly (one checklist with just the essentials). You can switch later.

  2. Solo or team. On my own, or With a team. Teams need GitHub.

  3. AI tools. Claude Code and Codex: Install, then Sign in with your own account. One is enough. With both, choose under Who builds your cards. No plan yet? Which do you have? › Neither yet points you to one.

  4. Git and identity. Plyloft installs Git if it’s missing (the Command Line Tools on Mac, Git for Windows on Windows), then asks the name and email for your commits. Use my private GitHub address keeps your email private.

  5. GitHub (optional). This connects the GitHub CLI, for pull requests and checks; it is separate from your Plyloft sign-in. Connect GitHub shows a code to enter on GitHub. Skip for now keeps your repositories local.

  6. Team (only if you chose a team). Join or create a team: pick a team that invited you, enter an invite code, or create one. To join, the owner gives you a seat, then you join with the invite code. See Teams.

  7. Projects folder. Where your repositories live, ~/Projects by default. Avoid iCloud Drive and OneDrive.

  8. First project. Add a folder you already have, clone one from GitHub, or create a new one.

  9. Project settings. How Plyloft builds “your project”: Plyloft reads how the project builds and tests. Looks right, or Change.

  10. Ready. Plyloft is ready lists anything still to do. Open your project, or Try a guided first card.

The rail on the left lists the steps, with Done beside the ones that need nothing more; the top says Step 3 of 9 (ten steps with a team) and how many are done. Switch to just the essentials and Close setup are at the top right.
