Builder
Writes the change in the card’s own copy of the repository, in a real terminal you can open at any time. Gets every finding from the review and fixes it, or explains why not.
Every card has two roles. Plyloft gives them to the official command-line tools you already use, signed in with your own plans.
Builder
Writes the change in the card’s own copy of the repository, in a real terminal you can open at any time. Gets every finding from the review and fixes it, or explains why not.
Challenger
Reads the build read-only: it can look at everything and change nothing. Anchors its findings on the lines they name, follows your repository’s skills and says which.
By default the Builder is Claude (Claude Code) and the Challenger is Codex, the other vendor. You can swap them per card, or set your default in Settings › This Mac › Claude and Codex › Who builds.
| You have | Builder | Challenger |
|---|---|---|
| Claude and ChatGPT plans | Claude or Codex | the other one |
| Only a Claude plan | Claude | Claude, same vendor |
| Only a ChatGPT plan | Codex | Codex, same vendor |
When the Challenger is the same vendor as the Builder, the card says so, for example Claude · same vendor · reviewing.
The card’s properties name both roles at all times:
While either one works, the card’s Now callout and the sidebar say who it is: Claude · building · 4m, Codex · reviewing · 2m, Claude · waiting for you.
Plyloft starts claude and codex in a terminal on your computer, the same as typing them yourself. It uses no API key and never sees your credentials. Usage counts toward your plan’s limits as usual.
